Noses in the trough..Part 2. Libs, Nats and Greens the worst when it comes to expenses

Some further stats around the entitlements in the commonwealth. I calculated expenses by Party and compared each Parties representation in the members claiming vs the % of the total entitlement claimed. In theory, if it were fair, each parties % of entitlement would be equal to its % of representation. Not the case however. Here are the summary stats. Labor is surprisingly good. Liberal, Nats (including CLP), Greens and Bob Katter less so. Party Entitlement by Party % of Total Entitlement     Number of Party Members claiming % of Total Members  Claiming Amount Parties are overcharging based on representation Labor $16,740,241.80 36.6244% 121 39.29% -2.6614% Liberal $20,510,946.47 44.8739% 133 43.18% 1.6921% National $4,218,421.62 9.2291% 24 7.79% 1.4369% Greens $2,143,832.66 4.6903% 13 4.22% 0.4695% PUP $153,528.00 ...

Australian/NZ Netflix Subscribers. Total Members likely to be only 581,500

Image
Lots of numbers floating about the Australian media about Netflix Subscribers in Australia and how there are over 1.4 million Netflix Subscribers over the last three months. I think this is absolute rubbish. When you think there are only around 8,000,000 households in Australia, that would mean a market penetration of 17.5%...which is a lot for a luxury item, especially when Foxtel only has around 30% of the market (being around for a while and has the advantage of sport) So I decided to do my own analysis. Firstly I downloaded the quarterly International Streaming total members numbers published in the financial reports of Netflix since 2011. (Since Australian/NZ data would appear in that segment I then calculated the increases in each period, found the 4 quarter moving average and seasonally adjusted the data to get the Seasonally Adjusted Data Set. Produces the data set below. Raw Increase Average Residual Average Residual Seasonal SA Se...
